Object State Workflow with enum / Customize selectable values dependend on selection

Hello!

I have the task to realize an object state in a module dropdown list like a workflow (like Transitions with Enumeration Type).

So: When a user selects a value in the enumeration, the list will refresh and shows only values that are associated with the selection.

I.e.
SELECTED VALUE "Draft": If the object is created, the Dropdown contains the Values Draft, Proposal (Draft is selected)

SELECTED VALUE "Proposal": If the user selects "Proposal" the list contains "proposal, released, reviewed with findings"

SELECTED VALUE "released": If the user selects "released", the list contains "Draft, not required,

SELECTED VALUE "reviewed" with findings: If the user selects "reviewed with findings", the list contains (Draft, Proposal)

SELECTED VALUE "Not required": If the user selects "Not required", Draft is the only selectable possibility.

Can someone tell me if this is possible or if there is a better way to realize such "Workflow Transitions" with Enumerations?

I guess i would have to use object triggers for this?

With best regards,

Bjoern

Two options:

  1. Use triggers to validate input through the module window (in-place edit) or object properties sheet, before the value of the attribute is set. Discard the value or throw up an error message if the user makes an invalid selection, but you can't modify directly the drop-down that DOORS presents in these contexts.
  2. Custom UI - build a dialogue box that applies the rules.

Depending on the user community, you may need to do both, just to be sure. It's either that or periodic post-hoc data validation - but who wants to shut the stable doors after the horse has bolted?
